Health Funds That Cover Myotherapy and/or Remedial Massage
New definition of Remedial Massage and revised requirements for Provider Recognition – Medibank Private has recently revised the definition of Remedial Massage and Provider Recognition status for your review. Clients who have private health insurance or employer provided insurance may be eligible for refunds on myotherapy fees. Myotherapy is often included in the ‘Extras’ schedule.
Patient Records – Upon request, and with consent of the patient, Practitioners must provide a copy of the Patients clinical notes, including, Assessment, Treatment Plan and treatment notes, on request from a Fund, to support a claim for Health Benefits.
The information below on health funds should only be used as a guide as schedules are frequently reviewed and the number of funds recognising Myotherapy is growing all the time.
Please check with your health fund if Myotherapy is included in their schedules, the rate at which they refund and the limits on refunds.
